Kohler Power Systems Introduces Most Compact Towable Diesel Generator

KOHLER, Wis. – December 2005 – Kohler Power Systems introduces a new diesel generator (20REOZDT) rated at 20kW, featuring clean emissions and digital power control – all in a very compact, towable package.

At 2,000 pounds, the compact KOHLER design makes it one of the industry’s smallest towable 20 kW generator sets on the market and easy to tow even with the smallest of vehicles. The compact unit is ideally suited for rapid deployment to businesses, cell sites, small healthcare facilities or any other jobsite in need of reliable, emergency power. The unit is also available without the trailer. The optional trailer is available with an electric brake system with a breakaway switch and battery.

The KOHLER 20REOZDT operates at a quiet 68 d(B)A, and features a durable, steel sound-attenuated housing with lockable doors and a window for viewing the power meter. Also included is an internal polymer fuel tank with low fuel indicator. Built with a Yanmar CARB/EPA Tier II emission-compliant engine, this model features reduced engine noise emissions as a result of design changes in the engine block, crank case and fuel-injection pump.

The new KOHLER 20REOZDT generator packs great flexibility as well. The unit features a three-position, voltage reconnect switch that can operate at three different voltages: 120/240 volt, 1-phase; 120/208 volt, 3- phase; and 277/480 volt, 3-phase – all at 60 Hz. The multiple voltage output provides flexibility for virtually every power requirement.

In addition to the new compact and reliable design, the new generator features Kohler’s optimized alternator which increases the alternator’s power density. The KOHLER Power Boostä technology provides superior motor starting and short-circuit protection.

Kohler has also introduced its Advanced Digital Control (ADC) technology to its compact diesel products after a successful launch on its industrial, residential and marine generator lines. The ADC – installed into the generator – monitors 13 operational conditions and displays critical generator operational parameters on an easy-to-read, seven-segment alphanumeric display. The ADC display is protected from environmental conditions with potted boards and sealed connectors, and starts conveniently with programmed crank cycle.
